In memory of Hamish Ratley
As you may have seen on my social media, a few days ago I learnt that a friend from Bath Spa, Hamish Ratley, took his own life last Autumn.
I didn’t know Hamish well, but he always greeted me with the warmest smile and a bouquet of well-wishes. I’m very sad to know that he has gone. It would have been his birthday on March 4ᵗʰ.
The last time I spoke to Hamish, we said we’d get a coffee and catch up. I wish I’d been proactive, and able to appreciate his humour and kindness again.
I’ve given that coffee’s worth to this fundraiser; I hope it helps more brilliant people like Hamish.
Additionally, Hamish was a scholar of the works of Thomas Ligotti, amongst other authors, and I shall spend some time this year reading his work. If you’re unsure what book to crack open next, perhaps you could join me.
